
Bronco football versus Michigan televised

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's football team will
appear on television three times this season with the possibility
of additional coverage.
The Saturday, Sept. 7, game against Michigan in Ann Arbor
is an ESPN Regional production, kicking off at 12:10 p.m. The
game will be part of the national ESPN GamePlan package and carried
locally on WXMI-TV Fox 17 Grand Rapids.
The Virginia Tech contest, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28,
in Waldo Stadium will begin at noon. The start time accommodates
cable television as ESPN Regional will beam the game to many
east coast markets comprising the Big East Television Network.
The game will also reach a national audience as part of ESPN's
GamePlan pay-per-view package that is available through local
cable providers, DirecTV and DISH networks. Locally, WXMI-TV
Fox 17 Grand Rapids will carry the game live as well as WADL-TV
Channel 38 in Detroit.
The Central Florida homecoming game, originally slated for
1 p.m. at Waldo Stadium on Oct. 12, will move to a 3:30 p.m.
start to accommodate the Sunshine Network based out of Florida.
UPN station WXSP-TV Grand Rapids and WADL-TV Detroit will carry
the game live. WXSP is broadcast Channel 50 in Kalamazoo, Channel
20 in Battle Creek and Channel 15 in Grand Rapids. Cable TV subscribers
should consult local listings for WXSP.
Western Michigan could receive extra television coverage in
the form of the Mid-American Conference Game-of-the-Week package
reaching 16 million households. In addition, the MAC Championship
Game (ESPN2), the GMAC Bowl (ESPN2) and the Motor City Bowl (ESPN)
have television agreements.
