
GOP gubernatorial candidates to debate at WMU
July 1, 2002
KALAMAZOO -- The first of three primary campaign debates between
Republican gubernatorial
candidates Lt. Gov. Dick Posthumus and Sen. John J. H. Schwarz
will be held on the WMU
campus Tuesday, July 2.
The pair will face off in a 6:30 to 8 p.m. event in Brown
Auditorium in Schneider Hall, Haworth College of Business. For
tickets, call the Western Student Association at 387-3607, or
Posthumus' campaign office at (517) 337-2002, or Schwarz's campaign
office at (517) 482-2002. The debate will be broadcast live by
public television station WGVU, Channels 35 and 52, and by public
radio station WMUK FM 102.1.
The debate is sponsored by the Western Student Association,
the Kalamazoo County Republican Party. Posthumus and Schwarz
are opponents in the Aug. 6 primary that will determine their
party's nominee for this fall's election of a new Michigan governor.
