
Senior tapped for Young & Rubicam internship

KALAMAZOO -- A Western Michigan University student has landed
a prestigious internship with one of the world's top marketing
and communications firms.
Haworth College of Business senior Arnetta Newborn will complete
a 10-week internship at Young & Rubicam in Chicago beginning
next month. Newborn got the position as an account management
intern through the Summer Multi-Cultural Intern Program sponsored
by the Chicago Advertising Federation. She was chosen for the
competitive program based on an application and essay outlining
her qualifications and goals. In addition to her on-the-job experience,
she will benefit from weekly educational programs sponsored by
participating agencies, a mentoring program, and numerous social
and networking events.
Newborn has been majoring in marketing, but plans to change
her major to advertising and promotions. In previous years, she
has completed sales internships with General Electric Supply
and Saginaw Machine Systems. She is the daughter of Arnold and
Pearl Newborn of Saginaw, Mich., and a 1998 graduate of Buena
Vista High School.
