Trustees sign off on resignation of provost

KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees approved the resignation May 17 of Dr. Fredrick J. Dobney, who stepped down May 10 from his post as WMU provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Dobney had served as provost since July 2000. He came to WMU from Michigan Technological University.
WMU President Elson S. Floyd, who brought the resignation to the board, said he does not intend to immediately appoint an interim provost.
