Free showcase staged of music-theatre student talent
April 24, 2002
KALAMAZOO -- The University Theatre's Third Annual New York
Showcase will be performed Friday, April 26, at 6 p.m. in the
Multiform Theatre. The showcase is free and open to the public,
and a reception will follow the performance.
The New York Showcase is a 30-minute package designed to introduce
senior music theatre performance majors to casting agents in
New York City. The Multiform Theatre performance is a preview
of the New York show.
The seven graduating seniors in this year's showcase are Amy
Board, who was last seen as Cassie in the University Theatre
production of "A Chorus Line;" Nicholas Dalton, who
was last seen as Al in "A Chorus Line;" Gina DeDominicis,
who was last seen as Lily in "Annie;" Mia Gauci, who
was last seen as Grace in "Annie;" Thom Mienk, who
was last seen as Paul in "A Chorus Line;" Jonathen
Rincon, who was last seen as Zack in "A Chorus Line;"
and Eric Zang, who was last seen as Archy in "Archy and
Mehitabel." All of these seniors performed this year in
the Stars and Moon Cabaret, a series of music performances held
after University Theatre productions.
"This is the capstone of their four years of work here
at WMU," says Todd Neal, director of music theatre performance,
"This showcase is what they work for. Nowhere else will
they be able to be seen by so many casting directors in theatre,
film and television at one time."
The New York Showcase is funded in part by support from the
University Theatre Guild. For more information, call the Gilmore
Theatre Ticket Office at (269) 387-6222.
