Hockey Broncos gain home ice in CCHA tourneyMarch 3, 2002 KALAMAZOO -- WMU's Bronco hockey team will host Ohio State University in a best-of-three games CCHA First Round Playoff series Friday, Saturday and Sunday, if necessary, March 8-10, at Lawson Ice Arena. This is the first playoff series at Lawson since 1996. The Broncos are seeded sixth in the 12-team Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament and ranked No. 12 in the nation. WMU finished the regular season 19-13-4 in all contests and 13-12-3 in the CCHA. Western Michigan closed its regular season with losses Friday, 4-2 in Ann Arbor, and Saturday, 6-2 in Kalamazoo, to No. 7-ranked Michigan. By virtue of the weekend sweep, Michigan claimed the CCHA regular season title. Saturday night's contest was played before a sellout crowd of 4,757 at Lawson.
