
Study, travel orientation scheduled for female students

KALAMAZOO -- Female students at Western Michigan University
who are preparing to travel or study abroad will be able to pick
up a variety of helpful tips during a Women's Health and Safety
Orientation from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the Brown
and Gold Room of the Bernhard Center.
The program will feature a panel discussion format and is
being sponsored by the Office of Study Abroad. Special attention
will be given to issues such as seeking medical help, observing
cultural norms, handling sexual harassment, developing social
relationships, managing alcohol and combating stereotypes of
American women.
The panel will be composed of women who have studied abroad.
A nurse from the Sindecuse Health Center will also give a brief
talk as well as answer questions.
