
Vocal jazz group m-pact here for one performance

KALAMAZOO -- Area vocal jazz fans will have the opportunity
to hear one of the nation's hottest a cappella groupsWednesday,
Feb. 27, when m-pact performs in the Dalton Center Recital Hall
beginning at 8 p.m.
General admission tickets are $15 each. Students and senior
citizens will be charged $5. Tickets are available from the Miller
Auditorium Ticket Office at 269 387-2300 or toll-free 800 228-9858.
After hearing them, renowned singer Bobby McFerrin exclaimed,
"Y'all is B-A-A-A-A-D!" National Public Radio called
them a "vocal wall of sound." NBC's Today Show gushed,
"accomplished...polished...best in the country." And
the San Francisco Chronicle called them "one of the best
pop-jazz vocal groups in the world."
With an energetic mix of lively banter, polished dance moves,
versatile vocals, and stunning sound effects, m-pact provides
musical magic. The group has rapidly emerged on the concert scene
via hundreds of performances, a result of its talk-of-the-conference
showcases at Arts Northwest, BCTC Contact, and the International
Association for Jazz Education. m-pact is now bursting on the
international market with tours in Europe, Canada, North Africa,
South America, and Southeast Asia.
The Kalamazoo performance of m-pact is sponsored by WMU's
own vocal jazz "wall of sound," Gold Company, and by
the School of Music.
