CAB and WFS team for Valentine's double feature
Feb. 8, 2002
KALAMAZOO -- Valentine's weekend at WMU will include a double
feature of romantic comedy movies at the Little Theatre compliments
of the Western Film Society and Campus Activities Board.
CAB presents the light romantic comedy "Serendipity,"
starring John Cusack, on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 14-15. WFS
presents its viewer's choice selection, "Novocaine,"
a dark comedy starring Steve Martin, Friday through Sunday, Feb.
15-17.
Both movies will be shown as a Valentine's double feature
on Friday, Feb. 15, begining at 7 p.m. with "Novocaine"
followed by "Serendipity." Double feature tickets are
$8 general admission and $5 for students.
CAB will present a single feature screening of "Serendipity"
at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14.
WFS will present single screenings of "Novocaine,"
Saturday, Feb. 16, at 7 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 17, at
2:30 and 5 p.m.
All single feature screenings of both movies are $5 general
admission, $3 for students.
"Novocaine" stars Martin as a dentist lured
into a twisted underworld of drugs and murder by an alluring
patient (Helena Bonham Carter). The film also stars Laura Dern
and has been praised by the New York Post: "Martin breaks
loose from a string of bland studio comedies with 'Novocaine,'
a snarkly amusing indie."
In "Serendipity," Cusack stars with Kate Beckinsale
as a couple that reunites years after the night they first met,
fell in love, and separated, convinced that one day they'd end
up together.
WIDR 89.1 FM, WMU's student radio station will broadcast live
from the Sunday "Novocaine" screenings as part of WIDR's
annual pledge drive.
The Little Theatre is on the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver
St. on WMU's East Campus. There is free off-street parking behind
the theatre.
