
Five students awarded BIS scholarships

KALAMAZOO -- Five Western Michigan University students recently
were awarded scholarships by the Department of Business Information
Systems in the Haworth College of Business. Awarded for the current
2001-02 academic year, the scholarships recognize computer information
systems majors for academic excellence and extracurricular participation
in the department's activities. Recipients will be honored at
a reception today, Feb. 25.
Chad William Johnson of Mattawan, Mich., received the
Mr. H.T. Chiang Scholarship, a $750 award made by Hunan Gardens.
He is a senior majoring in computer information systems.
Melissa K. Lancaster of Hastings, Mich., received a
$2,000 Pharmacia Corp. Scholarship. A senior majoring in computer
information systems, she was also awarded an internship at Pharmacia.
She is the daughter of Diane and Marvin Lancaster of Hastings.
Samuel J. Newton of Galesburg, Mich., received a $2,000
Pharmacia Corp. Scholarship. A senior majoring in computer information
systems, he was also awarded an internship at Pharmacia. He is
the son of Craig and Gay Newton of Galesburg.
Ryan D. Varriale of Sterling Height, Mich., received
the Mr. H.T. Chiang Scholarship, a $750 award made by Hunan Gardens.
A senior majoring in computer information systems, he is the
son of Barb and Dave Varriale of Sterling Heights.
Daniel P. Whitehead of Jenison, Mich., received a $500
Crowe-Chizek Scholarship. He is a senior majoring in computer
information systems.
