
IEEE taps Mousavinezhad to head educational activities

KALAMAZOO -- S. Hossein Mousavinezhad, professor and chairperson
of WMU's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has
been elected educational activities chairperson of the Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' Region 4 unit.
IEEE, with more than 365,000 members worldwide, is the largest
professional society in the world. IEEE's Region 4 is one of
the 10 regions within IEEE and includes all or parts of Illinois,
Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnes ota Nebraska, North and South
Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin as well as the Windsor area of Ontario.
Mousavinezhad, the recipient of the IEEE's Third Millennium
Medal, is a senior member of the organization. He also is chairperson
of the conferences committee for the organization and was the
general chairperson of the first IEEE Electro/Information Technology
Conference in Chicago last June. The University of Minnesota
will act as host to this year's conference in June.
