Centennial logo available as computer wallpaper
Sept. 9, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's centennial logo,
a variation on the University seal, is now available as "computer
wallpaper," the background image on a computer monitor.
The logo is available at WMU's Computer Wallpaper Web site
in three color combinations. All three versions--gray with gray
emboss, gray with gold emboss and gold with gold emboss--will
display well on monitors set to "millions of colors"
and properly adjusted for color, brightness and contrast. On
older computer monitors and on those set to display "thousands
of colors" or "256 colors," the gray-on-gray version
will probably be the most attractive.
The Centennial logo, unveiled in August, was designed Neil
Simon, a WMU alumnus and graphic artist in the Office of University
Relations. The logo incorporates the University seal and a curved
line representing Prospect Hill, the site of the original campus.
A total of 26 images are available at the wallpaper Web site
<www.wmich.edu/wmu/wallpaper>,
as well as instructions for downloading images for both Windows
and Macintosh operating systems.
