Art faculty exhibition Sept. 21 through Oct. 10
Sept. 5, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- The WMU Department of Art is presenting an exhibition
by the department's full- and part-time faculty and professional
staff members in the Dalton Center Multimedia Room Sept. 21 through
Oct. 10. Viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The opening reception is Friday, Sept. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Parking is free after 4 p.m. on Friday in faculty and students
lots and there is easy access for the handicapped.
Phil Vander Weg, department chair, says, "A primary strength
of the Western Michigan University Art Department faculty has
always been its diversity and commitment to creative excellence.
They strive to remain situated in the mainstream of contemporary
ideas and professional activity. Media experimentation and blends
are counterpoints to established approaches of a more traditional
nature by those currently on exhibit. This affords a first-hand
look at serious artists that are setting trends and making news
across the country and abroad while on their home turf."
A continuing exhibit by the Department of Art faculty is in
the Administrative Suite in Seibert Administration Building.
The Department of Art is located in Sangren Hall. For additional
