
Conferences and Seminars has new program coordinator

KALAMAZOO -- Cathy Colella of Kalamazoo has been appointed
a program coordinator in Conferences and Seminars at Western
Michigan University. Colella had been interim executive director
of the Art Center of Battle Creek, Mich., which she joined in
1999 as associate director.
In her new position at WMU, she will develop, manage and market
noncredit programs, conferences and workshops for a variety of
clients. Her responsibilities for each assignment will include
budget management, supervision of logistical and administrative
details, and production and dissemination of promotional materials.
Colella served as development associate at the Cranbrook Academy
of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., from 1996 to 1997; a human
resources specialist at Staffco Services Inc. in Birmingham,
Mich., from 1995 to 1996; and an administrative assistant with
numerous human resources duties at the Northpointe Heart Center
in Berkley, Mich., from 1989 to 1995.
She earned a bachelor of arts degree in visual art from WMU
in 1999.
WMU's Conferences and Seminars unit provides a wide range
of noncredit educational programming, including conferences,
customized training for business and industry, courses to meet
continuing professional education requirements, and certificate
as well as professional development programs. A part of the Division
of Continuing Education, it also provides complete conference
management services for local, state and national events sponsored
by on- or off-campus clients.
