Plans set for 21st annual Bronco Bash
Aug. 17, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- Bronco Bash 2001 is set for 3 to 10 p.m. Monday,
Aug. 27, in the Fountain Plaza near Miller Auditorium. More than
20,000 students and campus and community members are expected
to attend the 21st annual event, which is a welcome-back-to-campus
celebration for the University and Kalamazoo communities.
It also is designed to introduce new students to resources
and volunteer opportunities that are available on campus and
in the local community. Nearly 400 booths will be set up so students
can peruse the wares of area merchants and get information about
University departments, student organizations and local volunteer
needs.
In addition to performances by several popular local bands,
Bronco Bash 2001 will feature SR71 and Nine Days as special musical
guests. The event also will include novelty entertainment activities
such as the Gladiator Joust, Rock Wall, Bouncy Boxing, the Orbitron
and Freaky Fotos.
A festival atmosphere will prevail as students sample cotton
candy and elephant ears while enjoying the entertainment. Area
radio stations will be broadcasting live from the event, which
is being coordinated by the Campus Activities Board and the Office
of Student Activities and Leadership Programs. This year's bash
is being sponsored by Kinko's, CenturyTel, 89.1 FM WIDR, 103.3
FM WKFR and 107.7 FM WRKR.
