Food marketing scholarships awarded

KALAMAZOO -- Twenty-six students (listed below) were awarded scholarships recently by the Food Marketing Program in the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University. Awarded for the 2001-02 academic year, the scholarships recognize students for their academic excellence and extracurricular participation in the department's activities.
Brandon J. Behrens of Portage, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Vicksburg High School, received the SC Johnson Wax Scholarship. A senior and a member of the Lee Honors College, he is a food marketing major and the son of Joel and Valerie Behrens of Portage.
Robin A. Berens of Hamilton, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Hamilton High School, received the Georgia-Pacific Corporation Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Warren and Nola Berens of Hamilton.
Jason A. Duggan of Richland, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Gull Lake High School, received a Nabisco Food Groups Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of Daniel and Wendy Duggan of Richland.
Katie M. Dyrda of Shelby Township, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Troy Athens High School in Troy, Mich., received a Wal-Mart Stores Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Kenneth Dyrda of Fraser, Mich., and Colleen Dyrda of Shelby Township.
Bethany Evich of Ann Arbor, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Pioneer High School, received a Unilever Bestfoods/Lipton Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Donald Evich and Nancy McKay of Ann Arbor.
Matthew S. Heiss of Canton, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Plymouth Canton High School, received the Richard Neschich Endowed ood Marketing Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of Jerry and Diane Heiss of Canton.
Aimee L. Hohs of Lansing, Mich., a 1999 graduate of Lansing Catholic Central High School, received a Distinguished Order of Zerocrats Scholarship. A junior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Larry and Janet Hohs of Lansing.
Kevin R. Horn of Holland, Mich., a 1998 graduate of West Ottawa High School, received the Wal-Mart Stores Food Marketing Scholarship. A junior, he is a food marketing major and the son of Rick and Anna Horn of Holland.
Timothy R. Hughes of Naperville, Ill., a 1997 graduate of Naperville Central High School, received a Distinguished Order of Zerocrats Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of Richard and Connie Hughes of Naperville.
Barrie L. Kiser of Kalamazoo, a 1998 graduate of Portage Central High School, received the Michigan Food and Beverage Association Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Robert and Susan Kiser of Kalamazoo.
Eli A. Lake of Kalamazoo received the Wal-Mart Stores Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of David and Ione Lake of Kalamazoo.
Laura E. LaHaye of Lowell, Mich., a 1999 graduate of Lowell High School, received a Dorothy J. and Clinton J. Christoff Endowed Scholarship. A junior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Michael and Marsha LaHaye of Lowell.
Stephanie K. Lauritsen of Mattawan, Mich., a 1999 graduate of Mattawan High School, received the Kellogg's Food Marketing Scholarship. A junior and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of William and Kay Lauritsen of Mattawan.
Wendee Lee of Selangor, Malaysia, a 1998 graduate of Assunta Secondary School in Malaysia, received the Julie Kravitz Endowed Memorial Scholarship. A junior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Lam Keiong and Blan Lee of Selangor.
Kimberly N. Leon of Battle Creek, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, received a Wal-Mart Stores Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Evelyn Leon of Battle Creek.
Erika D. Londrigan of Grand Blanc, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Grand Blanc High School, received the Ross Products/Abbott Labs Scholarship and the Grocery Manufacturer's Representatives of Grand Rapids Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Paul and Desiree Londrigan of Grand Blanc.
Grayson B. Miles of West Bloomfield, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Andover High School, received a Distinguished Order of Zerocrats Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Malcolm Miles of Allen, Texas, and Susie Ellwood of West Bloomfield.
Brianne E. Ruoss of Kalamazoo, a 1998 graduate of Forest Hills Central High School, received the Coca-Cola Food Marketing Fellow award. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Richard and Terri Ruoss of Kalamazoo.
Vito V. Salerno of Wayne, Ill., a 1997 graduate of St. Charles High School, received a Departmental Food Marketing Scholarship and a Grocery Manufacturers Representatives of Grand Rapids, Mich., Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of Phillip and Carol Salerno of Wayne.
Derek W. Satterley of Canton, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Plymouth Salem High School, received the Tyler Refrigeration Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of William and Diane Satterley of Canton.
Adam C. Schroer of Stevensville, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Michigan Lutheran High School, was named a Coca-Cola Food Marketing Fellow and received a Departmental Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of Gerald and Vicki Schroer of Stevensville.
Kelly E. Smythe of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., a 1998 graduate of Grosse Pointe South High School, received the Michigan Grocers Association Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Robert and Rita Smythe of Grosse Pointe Farms.
Belinda The of Selangor, Malaysia, a graduate of Hin Hua High School in Malaysia, was named a Coca-Cola Food Marketing Fellow and received a Wal-Mart Stores Food Marketing Scholarship. A junior and a member of the Lee Honors College, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of The Seng Huat and Lai Mei Ying of Selangor.
Jocelyn M. Waite of Yorktown, Ind., a 1993 graduate of Lake Braddock Secondary School in Virginia, received the Kellogg's Food Marketing Scholarship. A junior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Dennis Waite of Key West, Fla. and Helen Stewart of Yorktown.
Sebastian A. Williams of Portage, Mich., a 1997 graduate of Portage Northern High School, received the Wal-Mart Stores Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, he is a food marketing major and the son of Gudrun Doan of Novi, Mich.
Christa Zinser of Portage, Mich., a 1997 graduate of Stevenson High School in Sterling Heights, Mich., received a Departmental Food Marketing Scholarship. A senior, she is a food marketing major and the daughter of Richard and Sharon Zinser of Portage.
