Faculty Senate amendments approved
July 12, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees,
acting at its July 6 meeting, approved a series of amendments
to the constitution of the WMU Faculty Senate.
The amendments establish a new beginning and end to the Senate's
year, change attendance requirements, change the term of senate
office from four to six years and eliminate text that conflicts
with the senate's current 30-day review process. The changes
also will result in the addition of University's vice president
for business and finance as a permanent member of the senate's
Technology and Operations Council.
Board approval is the final step in the process. The amendments
already have been approved by a majority vote of the senate and
by WMU President Elson S. Floyd.
