SAN DIEGO -- Sunshine greetings from San Diego, California! We have safely arrived at the official start of the 2001 Air Race Classic.

Today's leg was a fun flight over some more mountains from Phoenix to San Diego. We had a fun departure from Phoenix Sky Harbor. We were lined up on the opposite taxiway from the "big boys" also waiting for departure!

The Air Race Board and the local Ninety-Nines welcomed us to El Cajon where we landed at Gillespie Field. We then got checked in to the Doubletree Hotel in San Diego and officially registered for the race. What a joy to actually UNPACK our luggage for more than one night's stay!

From now through Monday, we'll be race prepping and touring San Diego! Until then, happy thoughts to all of you!
