May 9, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- Bronco Bash 2001 is set for 3 to 10 p.m. on Monday,
Aug. 27, in the Fountain Plaza near Miller Auditorium on the
campus of Western Michigan University. A Bronco Bash Web site
is available at <studentworld.wmich.edu/broncobash>
and will be updated throughout the summer with news about the
event.
More than 20,000 students and campus community members are
expected to attend the 21st annual event, which is a welcome-back-to-campus
celebration for the University and Kalamazoo communities. It
also is designed to introduce new students to campus and community
resources. With nearly 400 booths available, students will be
able to peruse the wares of area merchants and get information
about University departments and student organizations.
Novelty entertainment activities at Bash will include the
popular Orbotron, Freaky Fotos, Gladiator Jousting, Bouncy Boxing
and the Climbing Wall. A festival atmosphere will prevail as
students sample a variety of food from local businesses. Area
radio stations will be broadcasting live from the Bash and those
attending also will hear performances by several popular bands.
The Bash is being coordinated by the Campus Activities Board
and by the Office of Student Activities & Leadership Programs.
Major sponsors are Kinko's Copies, the Department of Student
Affairs, CenturyTel, FM 107.7 WRKR, FM 103.3 WKFR, and FM 89.1
WIDR FM.
