KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's Muskegon Regional Center invites WMU alumni to jazz up the month of June with music and an afterglow reception, Friday, June 1.

The music will be provided by the West Shore Symphony Orchestra and the Western Jazz Quartet, which will be performing together at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 1 and 2, in Muskegon's Frauenthal Theatre.

Immediately following the Friday performance, the Muskegon Regional Center will play host to an afterglow reception in the City Café on the Frauenthal Theatre's lower level.

The reception costs $7.50 per person, which may be paid at the door, and includes food. Beverages and a broader selection of menu items will be available for an additional charge. To reserve space at the event, call the regional center at (231) 777-0500 by Tuesday, May 29.

The Western Jazz Quartet is an internationally known resident faculty ensemble in WMU's School of Music. It promotes jazz music and jazz education through an active schedule of tours, concerts and workshops around the globe. Recently, the quartet has been appearing as soloists with symphony orchestras performing Patrick William's "An American Concerto" and other works.

Tickets to the June 1 and 2 joint concerts range from $6 to $30. They may be purchased through the Frauenthal Box Office or through Tickets Plus, (800) 585-3737 or <www.ticketsplus.net>.
