
Education student lands MACTE scholarship

KALAMAZOO -- A Western Michigan University student has won
a scholarship from the Michigan Association of Colleges for Teacher
Education.
Crystalyn Gusse of Warren, Mich., a senior who recently graduated
from WMU with a degree in secondary education, was selected as
a finalist for the 2001 MACTE scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
Scholarship winners were notified in early April.
"We were very pleased with the quality of the applicants,"
says Mary L. Otto, co-chairperson of the MACTE Scholarship Committee.
"It is encouraging to see how many excellent teachers there
will be entering the profession in the near future."
