Jan. 19, 2001
KALAMAZOO -- Sharon Seabrook Russell has been named to the
recently created position of director of business operations
in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
In addition to managing daily office operations, supervising
support staff, and numerous other duties for the Division of
Student Affairs, Russell is responsible for coordinating grant-writing
activities and directing outreach and service activities, including
those related to fund raising and scholarships. She began her
new duties Jan. 16.
Russell came to WMU as the Department of Theatre's business
manager and publicist in 1990 and became an assistant director
in the Office of Alumni Relations in 1994.
Said Jamie Jeremy, director of alumni relations, "There
is no question that the WMU Alumni Association has benefited
greatly from having Sharon as a member of our staff for the past
six years.
"Sharon has guided the growth and expansion of our constituent
societies, in particular the initiation of the Haworth College
of Business Alumni Society; has enhanced the programming for
our 50 year reunion as well as for the Golden Associates; and
was instrumental in the success of our first-ever Black Alumni
Reunion," said Jeremy.
Russell received a bachelor of arts degree in theatre arts
from Loyola University in 1977 and a master of arts degree in
communication from the University of Illinois in 1983.
