
Collegium Musicum concert features guest soloist

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's early music ensemble,
Collegium Musicum, will present its fall concert on Thursday,
Nov. 16, beginning at 8 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.
Admission is free.
The concert will feature guest soloist John Robison, professor
of musicology and director of early music ensembles at the University
of South Florida. Robison is an accomplished lute player, baroque
oboist, and recorder player. He will perform solos on each of
these instruments and will join with the 12-member Collegium
in performances of lute songs, madrigals, consort lessons, and
trio sonatas.
Composers represented on the program include Handel, Telemann,
Corelli, Monteverdi, John Dowland, William Byrd, and Orlando
di Lasso. Collegium members will play an array of instruments
including viols, recorders, and hapsichords.
