Hockey team remains undefeated in CCHAOct. 28, 2000 KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's hockey team remained undefeated in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association with a sweep of conference opponent Lake Superior State this weekend. The Broncos skated to a 5-2 victory over the Lakers on Friday (Oct. 27) and won, 10-3, on Saturday night. Both matches were played before Lawson Ice Arena crowds of more than 2,200. The 10 goals scored in Saturday's contest was the most by WMU since a 10-4 win over Notre Dame in 1992. With the twin victories, WMU improved to 4-1-1 overall, 3-0-1 in the CCHA and 3-1-0 on their home ice, including non-league play. Steve Rymsha led WMU Saturday night. He had three goals and an assist. Mike Bishai had two goals, and David Gove added to his team-leading total for the season with two goals and four assists. Western Michigan hosts Dartmouth in a pair of home matches, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4. Faceoff in Lawson Arena is 7:05 p.m. both nights. |
