KALAMAZOO -- WMU's volleyball Broncos extended their conference-leading winning streak to nine matches with a 3-0 sweep of Buffalo on Friday (Oct. 27) in University Arena.

WMU won 15-1, 15-8 and 15-6 to improve its overall record to 15-5 and up its record to 10-1 in the Mid-American Conference. Western Michigan also remained undefeated (5-0) in University Arena this season versus MAC opponents.

Junior Zakiya Pope led the Broncos with nine kills. She also had four blocks and a .333 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Alberta Griffin had six kills and hit a staggering .556 for the match. Classmate Heather Murphy contributed five kills, five digs and hit .364.

Sophomore setter Ashley Ritter assisted her teammates 20 times on kills, helping the Broncos to a .366 team hitting percentage.

Western Michigan travels to DeKalb, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 28, for a key conference match versus the Huskies of Northern Illinois. WMU is 0-4 at Northern Illinois since the Huskies rejoined the MAC in 1997, and NIU entered the weekend as one of the top four teams in the conference.
