
Pianist Alexander Mikhailuk in concert Oct. 31

KALAMAZOO -- The second event of WMU's Plaza Arts Circle Young
Concert Artists Series will feature pianist Alexander Mikhailuk
on Tuesday evening, Oct. 31. The program will begin at 8 p.m.
in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.
Mikhailuk will perform sonatas by Liszt, Mozart, and Prokofiev.
General admission tickets are $15 each. Students and seniors
will be charged $5. Tickets are available from the Miller Auditorium

Mikhailuk won the 1997 Young Concert Artists European Auditions
in Leipzig. He then came to New York to win First Prize at the
1998 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. He has also
been named a winner of the Highest Prize at the 1997 International
Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Weimar, First Prize at the 1997
Shostakovich International Piano Competition in Hannover, and
First Prize at the 1998 International Piano Competition in Taormina,
Italy.
Recent concerts by Mikhailuk include a performance with the
MDR Orchestra conducted by Rolf Reuter at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig,
a recital on the Prizewinners at the Piano Series in Hannover,
and a recital in Georgia for Savannah On Stage.
The Young Concert Artists Series is a project of the Plaza
Arts Circle and WMU's Donald P. Bullock Music Performance Institute,
and is made possible in part by a grant from the Irving S. Gilmore
Foundation and the support of Kalamazoo area patrons.
