Jazz Lab Band first performance is Oct. 18

KALAMAZOO -- The 19-member University Jazz Lab Band from Western Michigan University's School of Music will present its first concert of the 2000-01 season on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The program begins at 8 p.m. in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

According to director Richard Holland the program will be a "mixed bag" of swing tunes and ballads. There will be original works and arrangements by David Sharp, Jim Martin, and Kerry Strayer, as well as standard repertoire from the libraries of Thad Jones and Woody Herman. The concert will also feature a couple of guest artists: pianist Terry Lauer and vocalist Earlie Braggs.

General admission tickets will be available at the door for $5. Students and senior citizens will be charged $3.
