Oct. 24, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- Michigan companies interested in doing business with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration can learn more at an upcoming seminar co-sponsored by Western Michigan University's Southwest Michigan Technical Assistance Center.

"Doing Business with NASA" will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Nov. 8, at the Holiday Inn South Conference Center in Lansing. Glen Wright of NASA's Small Business Office will talk about the products and services his agency procures, explain NASA's e-commerce initiatives and discuss how contractors can be paid electronically.

The event is co-sponsored by WMU's Southwest Michigan Technical Assistance Center, the Technical Assistance Center of South Central Michigan and the West Central Michigan Employment and Training Consortium.

Seating is limited for the workshop, which costs $25 to attend. Pre-registration is required. Information and registration forms can be obtained by calling (517) 788-4680.

Under the umbrella of WMU's Haworth College of Business and its Office of Business Development Services, the Southwest Michigan Technical Assistance Center offers free assistance to companies interested in doing business with the government. Annually, center director Michael Black and his staff help Southwest Michigan businesses secure more than $20 million in government contracts.
