Trustees to consider three issues Sept. 15

Sept. 13, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees will consider an agenda that consists of just three items during a brief telephone conference meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15.

Trustees will consider approval of a new three-year contract with Local 1668 of the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees. The union represents about 500 custodial, dining service, grounds and maintenance employees at the University. Union members ratified the proposed contract in a vote Sept. 6.

Trustees also will consider approval of the general fund budget for 2000-01 fiscal year as well the transfer of property by the WMU Foundation to the University for the development of a student residence project. As part of the latter motion, the board will be asked to approve a development agreement for the property.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held in the Connable Board Room of the Bernhard Center. WMU President Elson S. Floyd and George A. Franklin, chairperson of the board, will be present. Other trustees will participate through a conference telephone call. No meetings of the board's standing committees are scheduled for that day.
