20th annual Bronco Bash is Aug. 28
Aug. 8, 2000
KALAMAZOO -- Bronco Bash 2000 is set for 3 to 10 p.m. Monday,
Aug. 28, in the Fountain Plaza near Miller Auditorium.
More than 20,000 students and campus and community members
are expected to attend the 20th annual event, which is a welcome-back-to-campus
celebration for the University and Kalamazoo communities. It
also is designed to introduce new students to resources and volunteer
opportunities that are available on campus and in the local community.
Nearly 400 booths will be set up so students can peruse the
wares of area merchants and get information about University
departments, student organizations and local volunteer needs.
In addition to performances by several popular local bands, the
bash will include novelty entertainment activities such as the
M-4 Motion Simulator, the Gyro and Zap Attack Laser Tag.
Students also will have a chance to try out their driving
skills on adult tricycles while wearing "fatal vision"
goggles that simulate the effects of varying levels of intoxication.
A festival atmosphere will prevail as students sample cotton
candy and elephant ears while enjoying the entertainment. Area
radio stations will be broadcasting live from the event, which
is being coordinated by the Campus Activities Board and the Office
of Student Activities and Leadership Programs.
The bash is being sponsored by Apple Computers, Kinko's, CenturyTel,
89.1 WIDR, 103.3 WKFR and 107.7 WRKR. For more information, contact
