KALAMAZOO -- Members of the Western Michigan University Class of 1950 will gather in Kalamazoo on Saturday, June 10, to celebrate their 50th anniversary reunion. Joining them for a full day of activities will be WMU's Golden Associates, alumni who graduated 50 or more years ago.
Saturday's activities will begin in the Bernhard Center with registration at 8:30 a.m. and a 9 a.m. breakfast program featuring a theatrical performance by Arnie and Deborah Johnston of Kalamazoo. Breakfast will be followed by a campus bus tour and an Internet demonstration at Waldo Library.
During the afternoon and evening, alumni will return to the Bernhard Center for a series of activities. First up will be a presentation on holistic health care by Dr. Molly Vass, WMU associate professor of community health services. Afterward, there will be a social hour and sing-a-long, with piano accompaniment by alumnus Dick Wood of Saratoga, Calif.
The weekend's official activities will conclude with a 6 p.m. dinner program. Serving as keynote speaker will be Dr. Daniel Stufflebeam, director of WMU's nationally known Evaluation Center. An induction ceremony at the close of the program will recognize members of the Class of 1950 as the University's newest Golden Associates.
The cost of Reunion Weekend is $25 for class members and guests. The registration deadline is May 26. To register or obtain more information, call the McKee Alumni Center at (616) 387-8777.
