Who Wants to be a Bronco Billionaire?

April 1, 2000

KALAMAZOO -- ABC TV brought "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" to the United States; now Western Michigan University is bringing "Who Wants to be a Bronco Billionaire?" to Southwest Michigan.

The program, formatted after the popular TV quiz show, is being used to train new residence hall student staff and orientation leaders on WMU facts and trivia. And while the organizers won't be awarding millions -- the lucky winners will get WMU t-shirts -- there is priceless information about the University to be gained.

Sarah Ylkanen, a senior from Marquette majoring in organizational communication, compiled the list of more than 100 trivia questions ranging from information about University presidents and history to academic majors.

"Who Wants to be a Bronco Billionaire?" contestants will even be allowed to use lifelines to help when they get stumped. A small group of WMU experts and trivia buffs, including Associate Dean of Students Dr. David W. Parrot, will be available for the Phone a Friend lifeline.

Three sessions of "Who Wants to be a Bronco Billionaire?" will be held the week of April 3. They are not open to the public.
