Men's basketball Broncos lose in double OT

KALAMAZOO -- Western Michigan University's men's basketball team lost, 127-126, in double overtime to Marshall on Monday, Dec. 20. The game was played in front of 1,874 fans at University Arena in Kalamazoo.

Monday's contest was the Mid-American Conference season opener for both teams. The Broncos are 2-6 overall.

Junior Rob Watson led the Broncos with 26 points and led all players 12 rebounds. Senior Thadus Williams added 22 points and four assists. Classmate Rod Brown assisted his teammates a game-high 13 times and scored 14 points in 46 minutes of action. Tony Barksdale contributed 21 points, and Brad Van Timmeren added eight rebounds.

Marshall was led by Tamar Slay, who scored a game-high 38 points.

Western will host Marist in non-conference action on Wednesday (Dec. 22). That game begins at 7 p.m. at University Arena.
