Rotunno, Morin named to All-MAC teams

November 27, 1998

KALAMAZOO -- Senior Stefanie Rotunno and junior Traci Morin were named this week to All Mid-American Conference teams for the second straight year. Rotunno was named to the All-MAC first team at outside hitter. Morin was an honorable mention selection at middle blocker.

Rotunno, a communications major from Pinconning, Mich., was also named to the GTE Academic All-District first team. Other Broncos who have been selected to the district all-academic team are Lynda McLean (1986 and 1987), Julie Young (1989, 1990 and 1991), and Liz Gunn and Bridget Norris (both 1996).

During the 1998 season, Rotunno led WMU in kills (472), digs (307), and service aces, with a school record 70. She played in every match of her four seasons with the Broncos except one and finished with 1,423 kills, the second highest career total in the history of the program.

Rotunno is only the fourth Bronco in the 1990s to be honored as a first team All-MAC selection. Others were Kim Lee (1991 and 1992), Earlander Taylor (1993), and Bridget Norris (1996).

Co-captain Traci Morin, a 6-1 junior from Bay City, Mich., led the Broncos with a .309 hitting percentage. This was the second consecutive season that she has hit better than 30 percent. She also led WMU in blocks and solo blocks for the second straight year.
