KALAMAZOO -- The ethical responsibilities of physicians and other health care professionals working in a university setting will be the topic of a lecture Friday, Oct. 31, at Western Michigan University.
Dr. Terry L. Baxter, director of WMU's Sindecuse Health Center, will present "Ethical Issues in a University Health Center" at 3 p.m. in Room 211 of the Bernhard Center. The free address is being sponsored by WMU's Center for the Study of Ethics in Society.
She is expected to discuss the possible or perceived conflicts of interest, such as the extent of confidentiality of the student's medical record, the rights of parents to gain access to medical information and the responsibility to divulge information of HIV exposure when it has been documented for a sexual partner who is also a student.
