WMU offers 'On-Site' admissions program

Sept. 23, 1997

KALAMAZOO -- High school seniors can apply for admission to Western Michigan University and find out 10 minutes later whether or not they're accepted during a program at WMU Saturday, Oct. 4.

Called "On-Site Admissions," the event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on campus. More than 700 students are expected to take advantage of the opportunity to shorten the admissions process from two or three weeks to 10 minutes.

Participants will meet with an admissions counselor and learn about the criteria used in determining admission. They also will find out about the University's expectations for them during their senior year of high school. To set up the 10-minute appointments, invitations have been mailed to students across the state, in the Chicago area and in northern Indiana.

Students and their parents who don't wish to go through the "On-Site Admissions" but are interested in WMU may attend the event and take tours. General walking tours, as well as residence hall tours, will be available.

The "On-Site Admissions" will take place in the Seibert Administration Building, while the tours will leave from the Bernhard Center. For more information, persons may contact the WMU Office of Admissions and Orientation at 616 387-2000.
