KALAMAZOO -- The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees will meet at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, in the Connable Board Room of the Bernhard Center.
Agenda items include a proposed 5.5 percent increase in tuition over last year's tuition and fees and increases in fees for technology and deferred maintenance. The recommendations were tabled at the board's last meeting June 27 to allow time for public comment.
Also on the agenda is a resolution regarding a presidential search. President Diether H. Haenicke announced at the June meeting that he plans to step down as the University's leader on July 31, 1998.
In addition, the trustees are expected to consider measures on a 1997-98 general fund budget, financing for capital outlay projects and contracts for the renovation of Waldo Stadium.
Committee meetings will precede the full board meeting in Room 204 of the Bernhard Center. Times are: Budget and Finance Committee, 9:30 a.m.; and Academic and Student Affairs Committee, 10:30 a.m. Those meetings are open to the public. In addition, the board is scheduled to go into executive session at 8 a.m. Friday.
