Getting to the main campus

Kalamazoo, the home of WMU’s main campus, is located midway between Chicago and Detroit, 140 miles from each, 2.5 hours driving time on Interstate 94. Kalamazoo offers commercial transportation by train, bus, and major airline.

Alternate routes from I-94 to campus, through fall 2008

To get the University’s main campus, take Interstate 94 to exit 74 North onto U.S. Route 131. Travel 2.8 miles on U.S. 131 N to Stadium Drive East or exit 36. From there, the following are directions to destinations on the University’s main campus and its Parkview Campus:

• Admissions Office — Stadium Drive east about 2.8 miles. Turn left on Oliver Street. right onto Western Avenue, and then left onto West Michigan Avenue. The Admissions Office is on the left side of the street.
• Bernhard Center — Stadium Drive east about 2.8 miles. Turn left on Oliver Street, right onto Western Avenue, and then left onto West Michigan Avenue. The Bernhard Center is on the right side of the street.
• Fetzer Center — Stadium Drive east about 2.2 miles to Howard Street. Turn left on Howard Street to West Michigan Avenue and right on West Michigan Avenue. Follow the traffic circle left to Rankin, and turn right on Business Court.
• Lawson Ice Arena — Stadium Drive east about 2.2 miles to Howard Street. Turn left on Howard Street, left on Crane Lane, yield onto Western Avenue and then turn right on Roell. The Lawson and Gabel complex is straight ahead.
• Miller Auditorium — Stadium Drive east about 2.2 miles to Howard Street. Turn left on Howard Street, right onto access road to Western Avenue, and turn right immediately onto Western Avenue to Miller Auditorium
• Parkview Campus — Stadium Drive east to the first intersection off U.S. 131, Drake Road. Turn right on Drake Road straight to Parkview Campus
• University Arena — Stadium Drive east about 2.8 miles to Oliver Street. Turn left on Oliver Street to University Arena
• Valley Residence Halls — Stadium Drive east about 2.2 miles to Howard Street. Turn left on Howard Street to West Michigan Avenue and right on West Michigan Avenue. Follow the traffic circle to Rankin, which becomes Goldsworth Drive. Continue on Goldsworth. Entrance drives to the Valley Residence Halls will be on your left and will be marked.
