Mark your calendars! Our Fifth Annual Fall Conference on Middle School Band Music, "The Joy of Middle School Band—Kids, Music, Teachers," featuring Sean O'Loughlin, will take place on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at WMU and it is time for you to nominate your students to participate in the "Sean O'Loughlin All-Star Middle School Honor Band."
This is a very special year because we are celebrating our 5th Anniversary and the Sean O'Loughlin All-Star Honor Band will be performing a premiere of Sean O'Loughlin's brand new work, Elation, which was commissioned by the Mu Delta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and the WMU Bands especially for this event.
Please refer to the links on this website for further information on how to nominate your students. You can nominate students now through September 17, 2011 at 11:59pm. The criteria and process for choosing students to participate in the Sean O'Loughlin All-Star Middle School Honor Band are posted on the website.
Also posted on the website are the schedule of events, opportunities for professional development, and much more. The site will be continually updated. So, check it often.
Please note that, in addition to the opportunities for your students, there will be a variety of opportunities for you to interact with the students, with other teachers, and with Sean O'Loughlin. This day is designed to be a viable professional development opportunity for you.
Please remember that as a nominating director, you or someone designated by you and your school will be responsible for most aspects of your students' experience. We will not be contacting individual students. The music and instructions will be sent to you, their director. It is important that the students come to this event chaperoned by someone approved by your school. They should not be dropped off for the day, as we cannot be responsible for them.
