critical reflection
towards a transformed understanding

critical reflection

makes the difference between service work and service learning. Students who engage in Critical Reflection

  • move past the emotional aspects of the experience,
  • apply what they have learned to social problems, and
  • develop a transformed understanding of problems and the issues which surround them.

All of the service learning programs run by InterAction have reflection built into the program. Students who work with us spend time thinking about what we are doing and why. We also consider public policy and the private experience of those we work with. The most common reflection tool used by InterAction is the Critical Incident Report.
