Services

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction is a nationally recognized program to provide assistance in some of the more difficult classes on campus. SI Leaders who have successfully completed the class in a previous semester will sit with you through the class, then hold review sessions, providing a guided study atmosphere. All sessions are free and do not require advance registration.

Tutoring

The Academic Resource Center coordinates a free campus-wide tutoring service that has been developed to guide the work of students as they make their way through certain courses of study that have been identified as having particularly challenging coursework. All sessions are free and do not require advance registration..

College Success Seminars

These 50-minute seminars are independent of each other, thus students may attend one, two, or all of the topics covered. The seminars include such topics as time management, test-taking strategies, note-taking strategies, and learning styles. The goal of CSS is to help students develop college-appropriate studying techniques and habits.

Effective Reading Seminars

As part of the Intellectual Skills Development program, all entering students are required to demonstrate certain basic competencies in reading, writing and mathematics. The Effective Reading Seminars are designed to assist students in completing the requirements for the basic skills which are required to pass the course LS 1040.
