Myia Hughes has been an employee at Western Michigan University since 2006. She served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services for two years, transferred to the College of Education and Human Development as an Academic Advisor for 3 years, and has served as the Coordinator of Program Services for TRiO FESP since 2011.
Myia played an important role in the success of the WMU Women’s Volleyball Team from 1998-2001. She helped the team earn a bid to participate in the NCAA Tournament after winning the MAC Conference Championship in 2000. During her volleyball career at WMU, she was selected to participate on the A-2 Olympic Volleyball Team in Colorado Springs. Myia trained at the Colorado Olympic Training Center for 2 months, and then returned to Kalamazoo to complete the volleyball season.
Myia earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2003 and a master’s degree in Physical Education -Sports Studies in 2006, both degrees were earned at WMU.
Myia and her husband Jason are the parents of a daughter, Jordyn. The family resides in Portage.
