Western Michigan University is fortunate to exist in a community that views the arts not as a perk, but as a necessity. Greater Kalamazoo is home to ten producing theatre organizations, including professional, multicultural, youth, community, and academic theatres. Students of WMU’s Department of Theatre perform in many of these theatres throughout the school year, taking advantage of the supportive theatre community in Kalamazoo while not busy in University Theatre productions.
