“There isn’t another school in the country that has this many people on our list for consideration. It’s a credit to your sharp eyes in recruiting and the strong challenges you provide these students with that so many stand so strong in the competitive market for MFA training.” – Jack Young, Director, Graduate Acting & Directing, University of Houston MFA

The BA in Theatre Studies combines studies in theatre with broad preparation in the liberal arts. Students master the fundamentals of acting, directing, history, and design/technology and can use theatre electives to concentrate further in other specific areas of interest.

With the exception of Arts Management students, this concentration is designed for those who have already been accepted through audition or portfolio review into other areas of study in the theatre major.  The Theatre Studies degree is available to theatre majors who wish to have a more flexible course of study to pursue a specific area of interest outside of the BFA courses of study.  Theatre students must complete an application with the Department Advisor for admission to this concentration following the completion of 36 hours of study, 15 of which must be in Theatre.
