Whatever WMU is doing to prepare their students for a future in the professional arena…it works!”
- Dale AJ Rose, Director of Performance Studies/MFA Acting Program
Associate Chair, Interim Artistic Director for Connecticut Repertory Theatre

A course of study in Arts Management can be arranged within the Theatre Studies degree and demands general knowledge of all areas of theatre with emphasis in public relations, development, ticket office management, marketing, and finance. Experience in house management, box office, press, marketing, budgets and accounting, database management, and website maintenance are some of the many experiences a student can gain from working in this program. The Arts Management program also assists in the management of the Theatre Guild and its fundraising efforts.

Students in this program must fulfill the University’s general education requirements as well as requirements within the Theatre Studies Curriculum, ensuring a solid base of knowledge in the fundamentals of theatre. Outside of these requirements, this major consists of the equivalent of a Business Minor and a selection of electives. These electives are chosen with guidance from the Director of Arts Management in Theatre and are based on career focus within the field and personal strengths and interests.
