Admission into the Department of Theatre is a multi-step process. You must apply to the University and also to the Department of Theatre. Please note that applying to the University itself before December 1st provides many scholarship opportunities.
Auditions and interviews for the Department of Theatre are held on and off campus throughout the year. Below is a list of audition & interview opportunities and information about attending each. Please note that Music Theatre Performance auditions are held on campus only.
ON CAMPUS AUDITIONS & INTERVIEWS:
The first step in applying to audition or interview on campus with the Department of Theatre is to fill out our online application form. Upon receiving your online application, we will reply to you via email with information regarding your audition and additional materials you must provide. You will also be directed to pay a $10, non-refundable application processing fee.
WMU CAMPUS AUDITIONS/INTERVIEWS - Auditions and interviews for the 2014-2015 academic year will be February 7 and March 14, 2014. Please note that Kalamazoo is in Eastern Standard Time.

*Auditions for the Music Theatre Performance major will only take place on Western’s campus on February 15 and March 15.
Application: on-site; no advance registration necessary; you can sign up to audition at our table as audition slots are available Monday and Tuesday – first come, first serve. Theatre Design and Technology candidates can meet us on-site in the area of our audition room.
If you are unable to attend the audition dates listed above, we will accept videos. However, we strongly encourage attendance so you get to know our programs, faculty, staff, students, and facilities. Please select “Video Submission” on the online application form.
