The Quilters Quilt
This unique quilt, specifically designed for a stage production of Quilters, consists of multiple units. The foundation is constructed from off-white muslin, pieced horizontally and vertically. In the center is a 100″ square block. 46″ half square triangles consisting of 3 1/2″ pieced strips of print fabric are quilted to each of the four corners. A 36″ wide section of foundation fabric surrounds the center. Framing this area is a quilting 4 1/2″ green inner border, followed by a quilted, 17″ off white border containing a hand appliqued “Celtic cable” constructed of 1″ wide strips of green fabric. 17 detachable quilted sections (blocks) are held in place on the foundation with 1/2″ snaps and 4″ long Velcro strips.
