Dear Theatre
Majors and Students Interested in Theatre:
Welcome to the Department of Theatre at WMU. In an attempt to make the ins and outs of being a theatre major a little easier to understand, we have created this publication. DIRECTIONS is an invaluable source of information about every aspect of theatre at WMU: curriculum, production, auditions, policies, helpful hints, etc. This publication is meant to help you during your first year with basic information about the program and to continue to provide you with helpful information on graduation and graduate schools throughout your senior year. It is assumed that all theatre majors have read DIRECTIONS. Don't put yourself in the position of not knowing something. Take the time--it will be worth it. On the following page is a very important statement, "Expectations of Theatre Majors Policy." It is exactly what the title says--what is expected of you during your tenure as a major in Theatre at WMU. Please read it carefully. Our Theatre Program offers many exiting opportunities from working on shows to participating in special workshops offered by guest artists to taking trips into Chicago to see professional productions. We provide a tremendous variety of experience designed to prepare you to compete in the difficult world of professional theatre. But what you take from the program is really up to you. You are expected to be self-motivated and self-disciplined in all areas of the Theatre program. It's up to YOU to make the first contact regarding the many opportunities and programs available to you during your educational tenure at WMU. We are very excited to have you with us in this exceptional program. Sincerely, |
