Literary Scholarship
The web is also
becoming an increasingly sophisticated and media-enriched way to study
literature. The following sources offer a glimpse into the future
of literary studies.
American
Studies at the University of Virginia
is an incredibly rich resource for literary studies. Its purpose is
to represent all things Americana in a media-enriched electronic format.
It offers a wealth of American literature hypertexts and American
paintings, as well as an incredible array of links to related American
studies projects at the University of Virginia and elsewhere.
Literature in Context
provides extensive discussion of frequently taught literary works
in secondary schools and includes links to on-line texts. Fee-based,
free 24 hour examination priviledges.
Literary Resources on the Net is maintained by Dr. Jack Lynch
of Rutgers University. The site offers a comprehensive compilation
of web sites concerned with English and American literature, ranging
from classical to hypertext. Lynch is particularly discerning in his
selection, and the result is a site that is extremely useful to literary
scholars and secondary English teachers.
English
and American Literature at Western Michigan University Library
is an excellent overview of online resources in these two fields,
including archives, databases, and other online material.
Voice of the Shuttle,
created at the University of California, is a rich database of web
resources for the humanities.
