Zechariah's Advice for Transfer Students

My biggest piece of advice for transfer students is to talk to the advisors. They will help to make sure that all of your credits get transferred to WMU properly. Also make sure that you are planning accordingly in terms of the courses you are taking if you are considering transferring to WMU.

About Zechariah

I am a senior Vocal Music Education and Performance major inside the School of Music here at WMU. I graduated from DeWitt High School in 2005. I involved with Greek Life through the music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, where I am the Fraternal Choral Director. I love all aspects of music; performance, theory, and history, and will be going for my Masters in Vocal Music Performance when I complete my degree through Western.

I chose to be a Music Major because I could not see myself outside of music. I have sung in choirs and played with many different instrumental ensembles since I was in middle school. I chose to come to Western after completing two years at Lansing Community College because of the amazing faculty. Our choral program is doing amazing things, and receiving international recognition for its commitment to excellence. The same goes for our performance, theory, and history programs inside the School of Music.

In my free time I really enjoy heading downtown to catch a live performance. We are very lucky to have multiple theatres and venues to see music and theatre, sometimes even for free if you are a student. Arcadia Festival Park in downtown Kalamazoo also hosts a large variety of events and festivals all throughout the spring, summer, and autumn months.
